David Kaplan: Yeah
Scenario
Misfit cousins reunite for a tour of Poland to honor their beloved grandmother. The adventure takes a twist when old tensions between the odd couple resurface amid their family history. When Benji and David visit their grandmother’s home in Poland, the place is where Jesse Eisenberg’s real-life ancestors settled in diaspora. Benji Kaplan: We stay mobile, we stay light, we stay agile. Benji Kaplan: The conductor will come by, take tickets, we tell him we’re going to the bathroom. David Kaplan: Bathroom.
Benji Kaplan: Yeah
Benji Kaplan: He gets to the back of the train, starts heading toward the front, looking for stragglers. David Kaplan: Sorry, are we the stragglers? By the time he gets to the front, the train will be at the station and we’re free. David Kaplan: That’s so stupid. Tickets are probably like twelve dollars. Benji Kaplan: That’s the way it works.
This is our country
We don’t have to pay for train tickets in Poland. David Kaplan: No, it’s not, this was our country. They kicked us out because they thought we were cheap.. Featured on CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode #46.44 (2024). 12 Etudes, Op. 25, No.
3 in F major, written by Frederic Chopin, performed by Zvi Erez
I saw this movie at the AFI Film Festival in Hollywood last week. By the time I got to this movie, I was suffering from some congestion during the movie and as I was talking to someone in the audience before the movie started, I almost forgot what I was going to watch! But I was so happy I got to see this one! As you can tell from the synopsis, Jesse Eisenberg is the writer, director, and star in this great movie about 2 cousins' traveling to Poland to see the land of their beloved grandmother. Eisenberg plays the role he seems destined for perfectly – an uptight, nervous, and dedicated family man who always wants to do the right thing. Joining Eisenberg is Kieran Culkin, who plays Eisenberg’s polar opposite – he’s outspoken, outspoken, and willing to break the rules, much to Eisenberg’s chagrin.
So I highly recommend checking this one out ASAP
Culkin’s character easily befriends his companions and guide – again much to Eisenberg’s amazement (and sometimes annoyance). The story itself is very engaging, and you’ll find yourself wanting to join them on their tour. Culkin could be in the running for an Oscar for this one, and Eisenberg could be nominated for writing and/or directing.
